The decision to bring a friend or family member to your therapy session is ultimately up to you and your therapist. It is important to discuss this with your therapist beforehand to determine if it may impact your therapy.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy is right for everyone. Therapy can help you improve your relationships with your family, friends, and self. Taking care of your mental health is a sign of strength, and seeking to better oneself is an empowering choice.

How long are therapy sessions at Headlight?

Typically, Headlight’s therapy sessions are one hour long.

How do I know which therapist is right for me?

Our Care Coordinators are trained to match you with the therapist that is tailored to fit your needs. During our intake process, you will answer questions about your needs and goals for therapy. Our Care Coordinators will handpick an expert therapist best suited to support you. If at any time you feel like your therapist is not the best match, our Care Coordinators will re-match you for a better fit.

How much does therapy cost?

Seeking help is hard, paying for it shouldn’t be. Our goal is to make mental health care affordable and accessible to all, by working with insurance companies to cover mental health services in-network. Over 90% of our clients are getting great care with only a co-pay fee. What should I expect during my first therapy session?

During your first therapy session, you can expect to discuss your background, current concerns, and reasons for seeking therapy. The therapist will likely provide an overview of the therapeutic process and work collaboratively with you to establish goals and a plan for future sessions.

How can I prepare for my therapy sessions?

We do our best to ensure you feel prepared for your first therapy session. You’ll receive information prior to your appointment on how to adequately prepare, so you feel comfortable and ready to begin. Some things we recommend are:

  1. Be comfortable, whether it is finding the right quiet corner or wearing your favorite pair of sweatpants—comfort is key.
  2. Have the right tools. If you are doing your session virtually, have your computer, phone, or tablet ready. You’ll receive instructions on how to join your session after scheduling your first appointment.
  3. Come prepared. Think about what you want to gain from therapy and jot down your thoughts.
  4. Expect questions. Your therapist will ask you open-ended questions like “What brings you in today?” or “How are you?” to get a better sense of who you are and how to support you.

How do I access my virtual session?

After you book your session, you will receive information about how to access your appointment. You’ll receive information prior to your appointment on how to adequately prepare, so you feel comfortable and ready to begin.

Do you offer inpatient services?

At this moment, we do not offer inpatient services. We understand how difficult it is to reach out and ask for help. Do you offer therapy for children, kids or teens?

Yes, Headlight offers therapy tailored specifically for children, kids, and teens. Our specialized approach is designed to address their unique needs and promote positive mental health development.

Unfortunately, at this moment, we are only located in the United States.

In addition to virtual visits, you can see your clinician in-person at one of our Headlight locations. Access our mental health support at various convenient locations, including Wasilla and Anchorage in Alaska, San Diego in California, Greenwood Village in Colorado, Boise and Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, Austin and Tyler in Texas, and Vancouver in Washington.

What types of therapy does Headlight offer?

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so our providers use a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).

Headlight takes patient confidentiality and privacy very seriously. We are HIPAA compliant and have extra measures in place to ensure our patients privacy is protected.

How do I make an appointment?

What is the process for getting matched with a therapist?

Once you call our Care Coordinators, they will note your needs and preferences to handpick a clinician who seems to be the right fit for you. Finding the right therapist is a very personal decision, so if you are not satisfied with your current clinician, we will gladly work with you until you feel you have found your perfect match.

Can I change providers if I’m not satisfied with my current therapist or medication manager?

Yes, of course. Finding the right match is very important and highly personal. You need to feel safe and comfortable, so we will work diligently until you are completely satisfied in finding the perfect match. Please reach out to our Care Coordinators at any time if your provider is not the right fit or if you are unsatisfied.

What if I’m suicidal or in a crisis?

Your safety is extremely important to us. If you are in emotional distress or thinking about hurting yourself, please call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988, or call 911 or visit your local emergency department.

Are Telehealth visits HIPAA compliant?

Headlight and our telehealth platform is HIPAA compliant and follows all HIPAA requirements including, the Privacy Rule. We encrypt data in transit and at rest. All information is encrypted at rest once stored on our servers.

Is Headlight web accessible for disabled users?

At this moment we are not ADA accessible, however we believe mental health services should be available for everyone, so if you are having difficulty with our website, please call our Care Coordinators at 1-866-294-9936.

Do you accept insurance for therapy sessions?

Yes, Headlight accepts insurance for mental health care and therapy services. We’re in-network with most major insurers and also facilitate an easy reimbursement process for out-of-network members, making therapy more affordable than ever.

What is Spravato/Nasal Esketamine?

Esketamine (Spravato) is derived from ketamine, a well-known anesthetic, and is administered as a nasal spray that acts quickly, providing rapid relief for anxiety and depression.

Am I a good candidate for Esketamine?

Determining whether you are a suitable candidate for Esketamine (Spravato) involves a thorough evaluation by a qualified Headlight clinician. Esketamine is prescribed for individuals with treatment-resistant depression or Major Depressive Disorder that has not responded to other treatments. Factors such as medical history, current medications, and overall health will be considered.

Will my insurance cover my sessions?

Yes, Esketamine sessions are covered by most major insurance companies.

What should I expect while using Spravato?

While using Esketamine (Spravato), you can expect to receive the medication in one of Headlight’s offices, administered as a nasal spray. After administration, you may experience dissociation, dizziness, or sedation, so it’s important to have someone available to drive you home. Your clinician will provide guidance and monitor your response during and after each session. It is important to discuss any concerns or questions with your provider for a personalized understanding of what to expect during your Spravato treatment.

Are there side effects?

Common side effects may include dissociation, dizziness, nausea, and increased blood pressure. It’s crucial to discuss potential side effects and your medical history with your clinician for personalized information and guidance.

Is it FDA approved?

Yes, Esketamine, is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of treatment-resistant depression and Major Depressive Disorder.

How are the clinicians verified?

Clinicians go through a 3 step screening process. First their resume and licensure is reviewed by a Clinical Recruiter. After review clinicians will complete a 30-minute screening with a Clinical Recruiter. If the Clinical Recruiter approves, the clinician will then complete a clinical based interview with a Headlight clinician. The Headlight clinician will then decide if we offer the role to the clinician.

How do I apply as a Headlight Provider?

How long is the onboarding process?

Onboarding, enrollment, and credentialing can take up to 90 days.

How often do I get paid?

Clinicians get paid on the 15th and the last day of the month. If they qualify for a monthly bonus this will be paid on the 15th of the month.

Is it possible to be a Headlight therapist while also doing other work?

As full time W2 employees, our clinicians are expected to prioritize Headlight work. Generally speaking Headlight therapists do not have outside employment. Occasionally we will approve outside work.
